This is a feature film addressing the social epidemic of heroin abuse and addiction that is plaguing our youth and young adults at an alarming rate. “Eden: Where Love Wasn’t Supposed To Be” is a film written to let those that are captured and entombed by addiction that there is hope. That there is a way out of that life.

SYNOPSIS
"Eden” is a young woman who became addicted to heroin after smoking a bowl of marijuana that was laced with heroin. Her addiction grew until it destroyed her promising life. For almost nine years now her addiction has consumed her. She has found herself living with a very dangerous dealer and player in the local heroin market. She has been abused, raped, and close to death. “Eden” has given up all hope of anything positive, and almost desires an end to her life just to have some peace.

A single encounter with a young man offers “Eden” an option for renewal, however, she cannot believe that someone would genuinely love her, and see her value. For she sees herself as wrecked, broken, and forgotten. She sees herself as on of “the least of these.” A fateful night, one that is the result of the absence of the Truth, one that finds “Eden” close to death, opens the door for a life that she thought she would never know again.

NOT JUST FOR ENTERTAINMENT
Heroin addiction is a very tough, but real global issue affecting over 1 million Americans annually. I have seen its damaging effects first hand as an Emergency Medical Technician in Detroit. It is not a pretty little habit as some TV shows and movies make it out to be. It is a disease that consumes the people it inhabits. In many cases, the person does not even realize they are becoming an addict until they are already hooked. This disease destroys lives. It has affected my family members and some friends, and I have seen people who have died from it. It happens daily. Raising awareness is a responsibility to our communities and the people that live in them.

Our film is meant for more than entertainment. Our film is throwing a lifeline to those affected by heroin and other addictions. It is impossible to address this without the foreboding world of the drug culture being a present character in the film. According to the NIH, the greatest increase of heroin use has been seen in young adults aged 18-25. Those most likely to go see the film being the ones who may need the film. This is a film to save lives!
